My dad has an 06 Range Rover with Bluetooth "telephony" capabilites, and it worked fine with his old iPhone 4S and connected automatically when he started the car, but his new Samsung Galaxy S7 never connects itself and makes us put the connection password in everytime we want to connect and it gets annoying.

Have never use one yet do have a couple of things you might try or look into.

How many devices can be connected to it at once?
May have to boot one off.

Have you tried resetting and or clearing the Range Rovers Bluetooth?
Reset to factory or some thing to that effect.

Only 1 device can be connected at once, but the Range Rover doesn't remember the device(s) it was connected to, so a proper connection relies on the device remembering the the Range Rover. I don't think you can reset the Bluetooth in the RR, it was 2006 when the car was made so Bluetooth was waaaaay simpler than it is now.
