Solved Blue Screen Can't Reinstall Windows with USB or Cloud Download

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hello,

I have been struggling for two days now. Nothing seems to work. I am able to reset the pc itself but as soon as I windows update or install any drivers I get constant BSOD.
I've run the following commands. Sometimes theres no corruption found but it still breaks.

sfc /scannow
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I haven't been able to find what is causing this or how to proceed. Ive reinstalled windows and formatted and deleted my C: Drive.
I've tried both cloud reset and boot from usb approach. I've tried disk part and formatting the drives, I've checked the integrity of the drive.
I will drop the dump files here for any one of you fine people to inspect. Your help is very much appreciated as I'm at a loss.

My Hardware:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10850K CPU @ 3.60GHz
Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB (2 x 16gb) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16
Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Elite AC LGA 1200 Intel
AMD Radeon R9 590x 8GB

I don't have any dump files right now as they've been wiped with every reinstall, but I can try to get some again as I will be reinstalling to try again.
Thank you for any recommendations/tips

Not much we can do without any crash dmps other than check your hardware health etc, can you do the following and then for testing purposes remove the R9 590x from the PC altogether, connect your screen to the appropriate video port on the MB, reassemble, test then post back with an update when you are ready.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Hello, thank you for your reply!

I managed to get the system stable yesterday for a couple hours.
It automatically installed AMD chipset drivers, and it finally allowed me to install the radeon graphics drivers successfully.
I was getting this error everytime i tried prior. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-kb1603

So it was all going well until it started crashing again, then it crashed in the middle of a reinstall from bootable usb and I believe that corrupted it again. I've had a couple blue screens today and I will grab those dumps and drop them here before I attempt another clean install using rufus.

Here is the speccy information and new BSOD dumps are attached.

It automatically installed AMD chipset drivers,

Your build is an Intel platform so no AMD chipset drivers should be anywhere near your PC, see my canned info below regarding driver installation.

Once Windows has been installed, you install the necessary drivers for the MB and other hardware and then leave well alone, drivers should not be allowed to auto update and you should never update any driver/s unless the new drivers are intended to resolve a specific issue that you are having, installing new drivers unnecessarily can actually cause you the very issues that any new drivers are intended to resolve and uninstalling the new drivers may not resolve the problem/s that installing the new drivers has caused.

Depending on priority it can take many months before the driver provider releases any fix and depending on the age of the hardware or software concerned they sometimes do not even bother or may have already announced an end of support.

Looked at your last crash dmp and had a brief glimpse at Speccy and it is apparent that the wrong drivers for the MB have been installed.

What I suggest you do stands but with an addition or two;

Remove the R9 590x from the PC altogether, connect your screen to the appropriate video port on the MB, reassemble.

Restart the computer and clean install Windows.

Install the Intel chipset drivers.

Install the SATA drivers.

Install the Intel VGA drivers.

Restart, check for Windows 10 and Defender updates.

Post back with an update for us.

NB[ In case you have no driver disk, they can all be downloaded from here

Thank you for this reply. I performed the reinstall I mentioned in my last reply but used a windows .iso image from 2019 instead of the latest. Unfortunately I forgot to take out the Graphics Card. However, the system seems to be stable after the windows updates. sfc /scannow found no errors.
I've taken the liberty of running speccy just in case something useful comes out of analyzing the system in this state: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/s44zavsOPcngYSWxuGmJ4LB

I will take out the graphics card and ensure no amd chipset is installed after the clean install and report back. Thank you!!

If you have already done a clean install and things are going ok, please leave well alone and disregard the suggested steps which were only intended for when the computer was in its previous state.

It was stable but it did still automatically install the AMD chipset drivers. A little bit after clean install, I got a pop up "Your hardware has changed, please restart your computer" and then all 3 of my screens would work suddenly. So it was only a matter of time before the blue screens started. I've got a clean install now without the graphics card and I am running the windows update feature. Once that is done and I restart, I will install the Gigabyte drivers and then insert the GPU back in and download the amd graphics drivers. I will report back once these steps are complete.

To reiterate, you do not install AMD chipset drivers on an Intel platform motherboard.

If the AMD drivers to which you refer are for the GPU then they are not chipset drivers, they are just plain old GPU drivers.

Do everything above with the exception of putting the GPU back in, run the build without it for a couple of hours first to see how things go, if all good, create a new system restore point then shutdown and refit the add on GPU etc, doing things this way will help to rule the GPU or its drivers in or out as the cause of any issue/s.

Going offline now but back in the morning UK time, good luck meanwhile.
