Black Screen Crash while gaming

Build components:

CPU - Ryzen 5 2600x
GPU - Radeon RX 580
Memory - 16 GB
Monitor - Sceptre E248W

Hello all! I am new here so if this is in the wrong thread i apologize, and please point me where I should be.

I am having an issue that has come and gone over the past 3 years. While gaming, my monitor will go black and tell me there is no signal. There is usually still audio and my computer seems to keep running without issue (Fans don't go crazy cooling it down and it isn't running hot). I checked all the minimum and recommended hardware for the game and I seem to be meeting all recommended hardware.

My guess is my GPU is the issue, but I am by no means an expert. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

while GPU would be the first thing to blame, you probably could rule out the monitor either.
try another screen if you have access to one and try running the PC without the GPU for a while too.
does the issue only occur when playing games?

Yes, it only happens when I am playing games. It has happened before, but only for a while then it stopped. I lowered the graphics settings and that seemed to help. It has done it once, but it is a lot less than it was.

Is there a way I can just speed up the fans on my GPU or should I look at possibly a better airflow strategy? I will try to switch out the monitor once I can get a hold of another one.

My case definitely doesn't have the best air flow. I decided it was time for an upgrade on that front. Bought a new case with good air flow reviews and allows for some extra fans. Hopefully the extra expelling of air keeps it cooled down.

Thank you for your help and kindness. This is the first truly positive experience I have had on a forum like this so I appreciate your not calling me an idiot :)

hey, on the idiot front, we've all been there - done that.
heck, for some of us, it still occurs way too regularly - but that's not a bad thing, best way to learn.

as to air-flow, I sit on both sides of that fence.
if building a rig in a case, I like to have more intake fans than exhaust fans to create positive pressure.
others prefer more exhaust.
honestly, I don't think it matters too much, all depends on your OCD levels! :LOL:

I also build a lot of open air cases and have never had any issues with temps.
my most recent rig had all my PC components on the under side of my standing desk which I recently converted into a wall mounted PC.
the only thing I do is use a bigger-than-normal CPU cooler - but again, the stock one does a fine job too.
