Hello PCHF Community,
Just tonight I was having a bit of lazy gaming session when suddenly my PC crashed. The screen froze and all that was coming through the speakers was static - kind of like the old dial up tone but worse (if that's possible).
Anyway, I powered the PC down (held power button down for 5+ sec) and rebooted the PC.
After the Asus loading screen prompting for F2 or DEL for BIOS, the screen simply remained black and nothing happened. Moving the mouse around reveals the cursor but if I leave it it disappears again. Trying again shows the cursor with the loading circle next to it but then it fades away again.
I've tried a few things to remedy this:
- Booting with fast mode DISABLED
- Booting with no USB devices plugged in
- Turning the RAM speed down in the UEFI (as it was overclocked)
Nothing has changed the behavior so now I'm seeking help. It seems like Windows 10 is booting because the cursor is there but the login screen won't appear so I'm not sure what exactly has happened and what I can do to fix it.
If any more information is required to troubleshoot the situation, I'm happy to provide it.
Thanks all in advanced with any help.
Regards,
static
