Better, Windows 10 or Ubuntu?

whoa, no one-answer-fits-all for that one I'm afraid.
It all comes down to what you want to use the PC for and what sort of hurdles you are happy to have in your way.
Yes, Linux has come a long way, and it being free is its biggest draw card but it doesn't suit everyone.
I've recently converted an old PC to have elementryOS (a Ubuntu fork) and have found it very close to Win10, but a complete replacement? - for me? - not yet.

In particular I do a lot in Excel, and there is no MS Office for Linux.
And the free Office clones don't even come close to matching the full power of Excel.

But - again - it all comes down to your usage and preparedness to jump through hoops.
