I might have to buy a new computer in the near future. This one cost between $600-$800. What's the price range for a GOOD computer?



I use my computer mostly to go online, maybe do schoolwork. I want a desktop computer.



What would be the best computers for me?

Are you wanting to build the system?
Follow the information in Bleeping that you were advised. Personally I prefer Intel over AMD.

Pre built then buy a decent system at a local store or order on line through amazon or the manufactures web site.

people have to remember what the P in PC stands for - Personal.
I don't like giving recommendations because they are just that - MY recommendations.

I'm also a Intel fanboy rather than AMD - simply because of their early, incompatible days and they are long gone but I've simply not bothered to keep abreast of the different generations of processors.

all I'll say if I was getting a PC, and from your usage requirements, I'd go for at least a Core i5 (although it sounds like an i3 would be just fine), 8GB and a solid state drive. anything else can be added down the track as budget permits like more memory or a graphics card.

to give you an example, we just bought new PC's for work from Dell.
$AUD800 for a Vostro 3471, Win10 Pro, 256GB SSD, DVD, Core i5-9400, 24" monitor.
I couldn't build one for that price!

Couldn't edit the OP, so I'll put more details.

I'm looking to buy a new computer soon, maybe in the next few months. I'll just be using it to go online and maybe do some schoolwork for online classes, so being able to have a lot of Chrome tabs open would be nice. I'm on the computer pretty much all day, every day. My budget in the $400-$500 range. My current computer cost between $600-$800. What's the price range for a GOOD computer?

I only have experience with Intel, so a computer with Intel would be best.

I want a desktop computer.

Prices change all of the time so you are best only worrying about this a few days before you will be in a position to make any purchase, Newegg for example have daily deals and you may just get lucky with one of them, in the meanwhile you can take a look at what is available within your budget @ Newegg here

Those prices may be good today but be shocking tomorrow, as advised keep a check on prices but wait a couple of days before you are ready to buy and only then think about making a firmer decision.
