Audio-video de-syncing over time

Hi everyone,

I've been having this problem where when I watch videos, the audio and video gradually de-syncs over time. I've been dealing with that for months, but now that it is also affecting my videoconferences, it is getting very bothersome. here is what I've noticed about it:
-The audio have almost imperceptible blips, which stacked up over time, makes it so the video has gone ahead (sometimes for multiple seconds).
-The problem stops occurring when I cast videos on my chrome cast for some reason.
-It happens more when my computer has been running for a while (I have a tendency to put it on sleep instead of shutting it down).
-It doesn't affect video games or anything other than videos and video calls as far as I can tell.

I've tried updating all my drivers and it has not fixed the issue. If you guys need more info, I'll be happy to provide it. I will be checking on the thread often.

Please give us your complete pc spec's.. Have you checked your temps during this time?

Do you have all the info you need here? I'm sorry, I'm not sure of all you need exactly.

what programs are you using when the lag occurs?
have you tried running some PC maintenance software like CCleaner or Glary Disk Cleaner?
how is your web speed?
have you rebooted the modem?
Mostly chrome, but it happens on Edge and Zoom that I remember.
I have tried updating all my drivers and cleaned my SDD and HDD.
It is not the best but the issue doesn't come up on other devices (laptops or handhelds).
I have multiple times over the year or so I have been dealing with the issue.

if those browsers have extensions, try it with them disabled.
make sure the browers are up to date.
try another browser like Firefox.

turn off any startup item and service that is not needed.
hit the Windows key and R together to bring up the Run window and type in msconfig to disable those items.

The only extensions I am running are Avast and Adblock, you think the problem could come from there even if the Zoom app is also affected?
 
my theory is to reduce any load on the browser and on the PC as much as possible.
so removing any resource bottlenecks like open programs, background services, scheduled tasks etc.
even booting the PC into Safe Mode (with networking) and seeing if that helps.

I understand, but watching videos is so routine for me that I can hardly see myself always running my PC on safemode. Also it's hard to say if safe mode helps since the issue only occurs after the PC has been running for a while.

If you or anyone had an idea of how to fix the issue without compromising on my habits, that'd be great.

at this stage it would be good to see if the problem goes away when in Safe Mode, as painful as that may be.
if it doesn't happen in Safe Mode, we can assume it's a resource thing (lack of) when the PC boots normally and that could help with a solution by turning off some background task or service or by identifying a potential program.

let's see if someone else has any thoughts...
