Sometimes I find my email attachemnts from the inbox. While the rest of the times, the attachment comes with a broken symbol at the top. When I exported them to PST format, the email had no attachments on those specific emails. Is outlook at fault these days. I have tried to remove and re add the email account. Moreover, I tried switching my internet connection. Where am i lacking?

Thanks for your quick reply,
I use Outlook 2016 on my Windows 8.1. It is a Gmail account with IMAP settings. I don't use AV. Windows Defender is updated regularly and has saved me a bunch of times.

Hi Bruce.
i can somehow relate to this discussion. :
It says Outlook and the similar applications for email access, often skip the attachments. this is a terrible news.
There is some application called Mail Backup X that resolves this issue.
Is it safe? I have never heard of that before though I found it here: http://www.mailbackupx.com/download.html

Edit: link removed

sounds to me like some sort of security software on your PC is to blame.
what other security to do have apart from Defender?
any 3rd party firewall or AV, antimalware, antispyware programs?
any Outlook add-ons?
have you run any cleanup programs on your PC? either for general maintenance or malware scanning?
have you done a quick repair and an online repair of Office?
start Windows in Safe Mode with networking and see if attachments work then.

Hi Bruce. This was a general issue by Outlook. And it is found in other email programs like Thunderbird as well. It was the issue with the IMAP access. It is currently resolved. Mail Backup X had the resolve option for the same. That worked.
