Asus TUF Gaming FX504GM seems to be underperforming

There was a time I could play Starcraft 2 on ultra and not worry about much, except for matches with lots of players (game engine limitation I've heard). Same with Batman Arkham City and other resource-intensive games. Now I'm having low FPS on starcraft on low with occasional hiccups, game freezes for a few seconds and then proceeds as normal for the next minute or two. Certain commands seem to trigger this more often than not, selecting an enemy unit for instance.
I've attached a Speccy screenshot.

Not a gamer myself so not much help when it comes to FPS but over the years through helping people I have found that when it comes to online gaming there are two things that hinder gaming, a poor internet connection and browser security plug ins, sort them and you are usually good to go.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

I've played offline games with this setup before and they ran better, I doubt it's the internet.

Well that is rather contradictory

If offline games play better than online games it proves that the internet connection is involved in some way.

Other than your RAM not running at the 2666MHz that it is capable of there is zero wrong with your hardware or its set up.

I even connect my pc to the router via ethernet. Doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

The games servers could be the issue then, try battle.net servers test

My apologies, I meant to say that the laptop used to run all games, online and offline just as well. The performance went downhill over time, and using a wired connection or not, did not make difference.

Also I remember you. You helped me this spring on the same laptop, made me update windows, use windows defender and use Ultra Performance. You made it work so much better. Thanks for that.
After not using the forum a long while I suppose it deleted my account as it wouldn't recognise any of my emails upon trying to sign in. Made some searches in my email and the forum using keywords but couldn't find my thread.

In any case I disconnected from the internet and started SC2. It is interesting that for some reason, without the internet, the game switched my low settings to Ultra. So in a way the game expects to run well on my machine (this also happened to Witcher 3 upon first startup). It doesn't run that well in reality. In a 1v1 with AI the game started lagging form the first minute. On low it runs well (but that is not my objective here ).

I tried the test on a wireless connection (I don't have a wire on me right now). Unfortunately I am not able to interpret the results, I'm hoping you could help.
I selected the Starcraft 2 service on the European servers (as I live in Romania):

Your Internet connection is the one thing that stands out every time.

Info regarding the testing can be found here along with how to contact Blizzard should you identify a problem when running one of their games.

I've submited a ticket to Blizzard as they may help with the fact that there were instances of packets loss and spikes in response times, altough, where I'm using the internet right now I am aware that the Wi-Fi is bad. It even disconnects sometimes. But it doesn't explain why the games lag with or without good internet. Why I can't play SC2, Witcher 3, Elite Dangerous and others on Ultra/Very High like I used to. I even reinstalled Windows 10 on the OS SSD a month ago and it changed nothing regarding offline play.

As soon as I receive word from Blizzard I will share their results.

Honest answer I have no idea and especially being that you have changed nothing other than adding an SSD which as you are already aware should improve performance.

Please do let us know if Blizzard are able to help (y)
