Hi there!

I just got my friends Pc with the following specs;

-Asus p7h55m
-i7 860
- gtx 960 strix
-2x2gb kingston ddr3 & 2x2gb kingmax ddr3 ram
-1,5 tb samsung hdd

The problem is that i cannot make this PC boot. The system turns on but there is no video signal or any sign that its trying to boot, no beeps either. I disconnected all the cables and took apart all the hatdware as well. Gpu, cpu, hdd, rams etc. I tried to boot with only the motherboard and cpu and 1 ram, I tried to connect with all the possible video outputs , still nothing. Checked if the cpu connected correctly. Cleared CMOS , took out the battery and checked all the other hardware in another pc, except the motherboard and the cpu.

Is there anything else i can try? Should I buy a motherboard and try the whole thing with that?

If someone has any idea, please let me know. I would like to fix this little baby.

Hello HorribleMan,

Try another video card, the MBs graphics will only work if the CPU has them and the i7-860 doesn't have this option, see CPU specs here

From a review of the MB here

To use the VGA and HDMI outputs, you’ll need to buy an Intel processor with a built-in graphics core. Most of the available chips have one, but not the Core i5-750 or 760 (below). An ideal companion to a budget board like this would be the Pentium G6950 (see Labs, Shopper 273), which costs around £65. Such a PC will have no problem with Full HD video playback.

Hi!

So it means maybe the gpu is broken, and the cpu cannot use the integrated card because it does not have the right features?

It could be the GPU itself, the PCI-E slot on the MB or even the PSU.

What is the brand and model name or number of the PSU, good quality brand power supplies do fail but they do tend to last longer than lesser or unknown brands.

The MB does not have an integrated graphics card it relies on an appropriate CPU that has integrated graphics on die, the i5-680 here being one such example.

If you check the MBs CPU support list here it tells you which CPUs compatible with the board have integrated graphics, IGPU after a chip = integrated graphics processing unit.
