That would not short out anything but not grounding yourself whilst on a carpet potentially could.


Have you done this.
The only things I found that may be indicative of something are two capacitors that look a little cockeyed and the back of the board looks like it may have been scratched and it had a small amount of what looks like copper exposed.

Caps can often be off centre and be in full working order, the following does suggest that the board is damaged beyond repair though :(

Light scratches you can get away with but if the laminate or soldered circuit have been broken the board will not work, you could try an RMA but you will most likely be declined, if you can see the damage so will the merchants techs who have to check RMA products.
