So yesterday I was extending the 1st partition (while shrinking the 2nd partition) in a 1TB portable WD HDD with the help of AOMEI Partition Assistant. But the unallocated space was on the right, so a notification popped out about Data Alignment and I clicked that. It started moving and aligning data from the 2nd partition.

Everything is working smoothly until AOMEI crashes after half an hour.

Then instead of extending the 1st partition, this time I created a third partition, and It was successfully done.

It turned out that when I tried to access data from the second partition, it was corrupted (some files are there but with 0 bytes size, while others take up space but do not open).

Could you please tell me if there is a solution...

are those corrupted files important, and if so, are they backed up somewhere else?
my solution would be to recover what you can, format that drive, then setup the partitions correctly from the start.
but why partition an external drive, what are you trying to achieve?
