Alder Lake and PL question

Hi! I'm thinking of a system based on the i7 12700 (65w) but I have been told that motherboards based on z690 are set to PL 1 = 125W by default and no change in lower -actually the stock- wattage (65w) is possible. So is it true or will I have to switch to a motherboard with another chipset (B660-H610-H670) in order to try the cpu in multiple power adjustments ? Thanks in advance.

sorry - all that mentioned hardware is 'brand new' (690 chipset, LGA1700 socket, 12th gen CPU) and I simply haven't had a chance to play with any of it.

reckon that will be a common response and maybe Google will be your best chance of progressing further. :)

sadly, as suspected, not getting much traction here.

if Google isn't much help, I'd try the retail shop you are thinking of getting it from.
having sold some, they be in a better place to offer advice.

also, the manufacturer of the motherboard you have shortlisted, talk to their help line and see what they can tell you.
