Solved Adding RAM.

Hello.

My PC was originally running with Klevv Bolt XR (16GB x 2) DDR4-3600Mhz. My motherboard only supports up to 2993Mhz so because of that the speed was 2666Mhz I guess. I bought a new pair of ram to add teamgroup T-force Delta (8GB x 2) DDR4 - 3600. The volts are the same for both new and old. At first after adding the new ram, the PC was running but the screen was blank. I decided to take out the old RAM and put in the new ones to see whether or not they were faulty. Fortunately it was not and the PC booted up, but I saw in Task Manager that the speed was 2400 Mhz. I eventually managed to boot up the PC with all 4 RAMs (48GB) and the speed is at 2400Mhz.

So my question is, why are the new ones slower than the old ones even though they are the same (except for the brand)? Is there anyway to increase the new ones to 2666Mhz like the old ones or will be the old ones always drop to match the slow one ?

Thank you.

You have post on a tech forum asking for help but have provided zero information about your computer or it`s hardware, this makes it impossible for anyone to even hazard a guess as to what is going on.

Provide the following information about your computer, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if a brand name, provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build post the brand and model name or number for the CPU, MB, the RAM and the PSU (power supply unit) providing these details will enable folk to better help you.

Sorry about that.

Its a custom build.

MB: B560m DS3 AC
CPU: i5-11600kf
RAM: Klevv Bolt XR (16GB x 2) DDR4 - 3600 (Initial), T force Delta (8GB x 2) DDR4 - 3600 (bought recently)
PSU: FSP 800W 80Plus Bronze

CPU: i5-11600kf
RAM: Klevv Bolt XR (16GB x 2) DDR4 - 3600 (Initial), T force Delta (8GB x 2) DDR4 - 3600 (bought recently)

That is the wrong RAM for your CPU, Intel state here up to 3200MHz and if you have XMP enabled the RAM will get auto OCd past what the CPU can handle and the PC fall over.

We will need links to both sets of RAM so that we can check the specs.

My motherboard only supports up to 2993Mhz

Some clarity is needed here, your MB supports up to 4600Mhz but your CPU only supports up to 3200MHz, had you actually purchased 3200MHz initially you would have just been able to enable XMP and have that auto OC the RAM to 3200MHz.

The two different specs will not work together because they have two different voltages, the Bolt RAM is only 1.35V whereas the Team RAM requires 1.45V, you can confirm this at the two links that you provided.

Best thing you can do is stick with the Bolt RAM and manually OC it to 3200MHz and 1.35V in the BIOS, the alternative being that you got rid of the Bolt RAM, kept the team RAM and manually OCd that to 3200MHz and 1.45V in the BIOS.
