Not open for further replies.
Hi, i just purchased an Acer monitor for my PC...i've tried for three days to get some sound out of it other than a headset into the monitor, which i loather. I have two sets of new speakers but neither work...i've never had this problem before so i'm confused as to what to do next. I didn't have this problem with my previous monitor.
Can anyone advise me please?

I can't believe i bought something as stupid as this...i can't send it back as i've set it up now. I've never had this problem before so is there nothing i can do to get around it? I have two fairly new sets of speakers which i've used on previous ones will they not work? I appreciate you taking the time to help but i'm at a loss as to what to do now. It appears i'm not the only one who has fallen for this so i don't feel quite so bad. <g>

The sad fact is that even before the likes of ultra thin screens like yours came about companies like Acer, AOC and BenQ etc stopped fitting integrated speakers as standard purely to keep manufacturing costs down, with screens like the Nitro range being targeted at gamers they fitted a headphone port as the PCB to supply the port is a similar size to a bank card so takes up no room.

There is no work around for the screen and you will have to instead use the audio ports on the MB, most boards now have 7.1 channels available and are better than a lot of the add on sound cards that people often make the mistake of purchasing.

We don`t know your complete computer specs but looking at your Speccy pic we can see it is a HP and it has a Realtek audio chip on the MB, this means that you should have a green audio connector on the back of the PC, this is the port that you plug any external speakers into, any power supply that the speakers have need to be plugged in and turned on and in case you are not already aware plugging in external headphones into the MB or headphone port on the front of the case will often mean that the speakers will get disabled by default and you will only get audio from the headphones.

Without having the full specs of the computer and your speakers that is as much as we can tell you.

Thanks @phillpower2

Here is a better way to send the speccy report that will show all the information we need.

If the computer is a desktop can you post the brand and model name or number of the power supply (PSU).

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Success...played around with all the wires and finally got the right combination.
Thank you for taking time out to be patient with me, i really appreciate it. I'm good to go now so you can close this request and thanks once again. :*)
