How to change target file when opening File Explorer and pin in to the Taskbar?

I thought it would be easy, should be easy, now hours later. As you can see in the attached file, I found how to change the Target folder so File Explorer will open the folder I want, not the Libraries folder. Problem is the box (on the left in attached file) where I should be able to paste the address is not available. How can I change the Target folder and pin it permanently to the Taskbar?

right click on some empty spot on your desktop, then New > Shortcut
in the location field, type in C:\Windows\explorer.exe c:\users\loin\documents\mywork and hit Next
now give it a name, MyWork Folder I guess and hit Finish.
you now have a shortcut on your desktop to your personal folder, right click that and Pin to Taskbar

Thanks for your reply. I followed your instructions and it all worked well.... until I closed the folder and tried opening it again... and it didn't come up to my folder. It's close, so close. It opens to "This PC > Documents" and the folder I want is in Documents. Picky I know, but now it's all about the principle of the thing.

works for me, just retested it again.
if your folder path has spaces make sure you include them in "
so if you have a folder under Documents called My Work, you would type this; C:\Windows\explorer.exe "c:\users\loin\documents\my work"

I've tried a couple times again but I get so nervous and upset when I don't get what you say I should get, that I just can't work on it anymore. And I don't use the computer daily, (busy old lady) Please don't close this thread, it took me a long time to be able to. I'll try again now.

I created another shortcut on the desktop and it opens the Windows Explorer to my files. BUT when I right click on the shortcut, there is nothing on the list to pin it to the Taskbar, only to Start. This has been my consistent result. I tried again and have 2 shortcut icons, "Windows Explorer" and "All Bernadines." They both open Windows Explorer to my files and can be pinned to Start but not to the Taskbar. Now I'm not even sure how I got the Windows Explorer icon that opens to Documents pinned to the Taskbar. I would send you a snapshot of the right click menu but it closes as soon as I click on the Snapshot icon.

If you are ever unsure of what is being suggested please ask the person that is helping you if they could perhaps help you out.

let's see if we can't nut this one out.
can you tell me your Windows version, I'm on Windows 10 and as stated, I can get it to do what I think you are after, so maybe there's a difference between our systems.
next, just to confirm, you can get the shortcut to work, that is, go directly to your personal MyWork folder which lives under Documents if clicked from the desktop, but you can't pin that shortcut to the Taskbar?
do I have that correct?

I use Windows 8.1. Yes I can make a shortcut on the desktop to my files: C:\Users\Dovee\Documents\All Bernadines. But when I right click on the shortcut icon it has Pin to Start but not Pin to Taskbar.

taking a step back here, and no disrespect, just confirming some jargon, but what do you believe the Taskbar to be? :)
it is the 'bar' between the Start button on the left and the date/time on the right.
so for example, if you drag something off the desktop onto some empty spot on the (usually) blue bottom bar, that should prompt you to Pin to Taskbar.
what message do you see when you attempt to 'drop' it onto the Taskbar?

You must have seen me looking Taskbar's name, because I didn't remember it until I started having problems and had to look it up. ;) I have a few programs I use on it, web browser, office programs, and the Windows Explorer icon that opens to the wrong file. I tried both of the shortcuts but when I held them over the Taskbar both had a red circle with a slash through it. I take that to mean, nope you're not putting that here. I tried another file that is temporarily on my desktop and it did give me a little window saying "Pin to Taskbar". I thought maybe since I had one Windows Explorer icon, the one that opens the wrong folder on the Taskbar, if I took it off maybe one of the others could then be pinned, but that didn't work either and now I have no Windows Explorer icon on the Taskbar. Poor me, use it often.:(

I answered the last questions someone had about what my computer does, and I thought as I answered, that person or others would ask some more clarifying questions or give me some other possible solutions. I haven't heard back from anyone, so the only update is, everything is still the same and I'm still stuck about where I was when I first wrote.
