Hello,
(I am not a native English speaker, but I think my English should be understandable)
Even though I post this under hardware issues, I am not certain it is a hardware problem...
While playing games, my mouse device disconnects and rapidly reconnects again periodically. You could call it a freeze, a second where the mouse is unresponsive and then it becomes responsive again. But technically it is a disconnect and reconnect, because I went into to advanced sound settings and turned off the notification sound of device disconnects and connects and then when the mouse 'freezes', there is no notification sound anymore, with this notification sound turned off.
Obviously I want to find out why and solve the issue, many thanks to anyone who can come up with good ideas and suggestions.
A small detail: This issue can also happen while just managing files, writing etc. (or just moving the cursor around without clicking anything) but I notice it more while gaming and seems to happen more while playing games.
It makes no difference whether I play through GOG, Steam, Blizzard battle[dot]net app or any other app.
The mouse is HP, I guess an old one, with USB connection. Very standard normal USB OPTICAL MOUSE. "Device status: This device is working properly."
Under Control Panel and device and printers it says "Model number: Unavailable", but I could find the following info:
Assy P/N: 265986-011 spares P/N: 537749-001 ct:fatsK0K67ZXRDS
M/N: MOAFUO
In device manager I can find the following info:
HID-compliant mouse Driver date: 21/06/2006 Driver version: 10.0.19041.1
Driver provider: microsoft Digital signer: microsoft windows
My Pc info in general:
CPU: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700F @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
Motherboard: Acer Predator PO3-630
48 GB installed physical RAM (4 RAM blocks/sticks in total 2x16 and 2x8 and installed in correct slots according to official motherboard manual):
manufacturer partnumber serialnumber
DIMM4 Kingston ACR32D4U2S8HD-8X 90523AC1
DIMM2 Kingston ACR32D4U2S8HD-8X 7C530560
DIMM3 Corsair CMK32GX4M2B3200C16 00000000
DIMM1 Corsair CMK32GX4M2B3200C16 00000000
My monitors are set to run at around 144 Hz
Things I have tested and done:
1)
I have changed the default setting under power management, in device manager, from allowing to not allowing the computer to turn off this device to save power. This makes no difference.
2)
I have no funky settings in mouse setting and mouse properties. Scheme for example is set to Windows Default (system scheme) and I have tried to set it to "none", which makes no difference.
3)
I have tried connecting different mice to the PC with this issue and also to all the different USB ports and it makes no difference.
4)
I have tried to connect my mice to another computer and on the other computer there are no issues, none of the mice disconnects and rapidly reconnects all the time there. So the mice are functioning as they should.
5)
I have tried to reset my PC to factory settings, while it had windows 11, which made no difference.
In the same line of methodology I then also tried to make a proper clean install of windows and I even tried to downgrade to windows 10, just to see if that would make a difference, which it did not.
Also, yes I deleted all partitions during the clean install, so that I only had unallocated space left. It made no difference. mouse cursor behaves the same way as before the clean install.
6)
Oh of course, almost forgoet to mention that I have also tried to update mouse driver and I have tried to uninstall device and let the system update mouse drivers automatically at system restart and it makes no difference.
Any suggestions? (Btw, will donate for sure if I get a solution here)
