External CD/DVD drive wont read/play anything

Hi, I built a pc but forgot to add in a cd drive, so I recently bought an external DVD/CD drive from China (probably a bad idea), It says it's plug and play and to just connect the drive to a usb port and it will show up and work.

I connected it and rightly enough it comes up as a connected D: drive on my computer area but I've tried DVDs and pc game discs and the drive light turns on and there are noises like it's reading the discs but the sounds kind of just go on and on and never end and the disc contents never show up on my pc as in the drive, so i can't use them.

Any ideas?

Hello

Does it show up in device manager ?

Also did you install the chipset drivers for the mobo ?
Mobo chipset drivers? Yeah think so but maybe 2 years ago. No idea what mobo I have or where drivers are though.

Yes it shows up, attached photos to give more info. Including two power options at back of drive and back of box.

Correction. It says my photo files from iPhone are too large so dunno what to do about that
