Solved Games Keep Crashing and I don't know what it is

Not open for further replies.
Recently I finished my computer build, and for certain games I've been playing it just crashes randomly.

About a week ago I decided to check if it was my CPU over heating. And I think it was (using program called 'Core Temp') so I just got thermal paste today and tried if that was the problem.

N O P E

I am still crashing and I am on my last leg before I spend a bunch of money for someone IRL to give me a diagnostic.

I have tried everything listed from googling below:

1. PC has been overclocked
There's no way I have everything on default settings in the BIOS
2. PC specifications are too low
It's 2023 this is also impossible
3. Game settings are not correct
I'm not sure what this meant, but I assume its the settings in said game? but I assume my graphics driver was taking care of that
4. The graphics card requires too much power
Although my PSU is a little lower compared to what people on average get but its more than enough for my 330w requirement (which is 750W btw)
5. The graphics card driver is outdated
I have uninstalled and re installed the correct driver twice
6. Games are running in the wrong mode
This also confused me. I assume it meant, if said game like 'Valhiem' where it has a mode to optimise the game before you launch it for under powered players
7. Windows operating system is outdated
I got the latest OS update I know that for sure
8. The internet connection is slow
My games are crashing on games that don't require internet

Specs:
OS: Windows 11
Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12600KF 3.70 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB
Graphics Card AMD Radeon RX 6800
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

The main games that keep crashing are:
Hunter: Call of the Wild
Overwatch 2
Fortnite
Valhiem
WWE 2k23
Halo Infinite

Do these in the order listed. Then try and launch your game.

Disable windows updates prior to gaming.
Use this tool in extreme mode.
Use Defender control to disable defender.
Use Kill Em All -- This will close all non windows programs and running processes non essential to your computer. Note: This will close your browser, so save anything if needed prior to running.

After the 4 clicks have been accomplished, launch your game now and see how it goes.

Also there is this tool, which can increase performance.

IF You connect via wireless so you will need to enter the following commands in command prompt.
So you will need to enter these commands in Elevated Command prompt after running Easy Service Optimizer, if you so choose to run it.
Copy and paste each command one at a time and hit enter after.

sc start WlanSvc

sc config WlanSvc start= auto

as to these 3 statements....

1. some BIOS defaults settings can already set to OC - like XMP.
2. may be 2023 model, but depends on money spent on components. could still have under-rated parts.
4. the RX6800 card wants 700w, some sites like; https://support.lumion.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003476773-Which-power-supply-do-you-need- recommends 800w. they give a 150w leeway to cater for extras like more screens, more drives etc. plus your advertised 750w PSU may not be pumping that actual figure out.

let’s get your complete PC specs.
get Speccy; https://www.piriform.com/speccy/builds
in Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot (hit Yes if prompted to proceed with publish) > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
now you can paste that link into your next post.

Speccy doesn’t show the Power Supply Unit so list the make/model of the PSU.

Is Speccy safe?

SORRY GUYS I had a terrible past couple days. Heres my specs

PSU: Corsair RM750x

@Bruce would like to see the link generated by Speccy

Speccy Scan.

  • Please go here and download Speccy.
  • Install and run the program.
  • Upon Completion:
  • Hit File
  • Publish Snap Shot
  • A link will appear, post that link.

thanks for the Speccy link, sadly it hasn't shed much light on things.
except saying your PC type is Virtual, and not Desktop.

so the issue is only when playing games?
and the PC never crashes under normal use: web browsing, Word docs, etc?

any chance you have access to a better PSU for testing: friend, neighbour, family, work?

  • That's interesting i've never heard of that, how would it be virtual?
  • Yes, it is only when im playing games. I thought it was Graphic instesive games but i feel like titanfall 2 is intesnse and that works fine.
  • And no i dont have a chance to test it with a different psu.

What is the brand and model name or number of the RAM and how many sticks of it do you have.

4. The graphics card requires too much power
Although my PSU is a little lower compared to what people on average get but its more than enough for my 330w requirement (which is 750W btw)

AMD say here that a minimum of a 650W PSU is required for powering a computer that has an RX 6800 so allowing for the additional storage drive, screen and USB devices a 750W Gold efficiency rated PSU is right on the money.

Something to keep in mind, it is the GPU manufacturer that is expected to honour any warranty should the card fail because it was underpowered, not a PSU calculator or some faceless person on the internet that says that it is ok to ignore any minimum PSU requirements specified by the GPU manufacturer.

7. Windows operating system is outdated
I got the latest OS update I know that for sure

The initial set up of the computer is a potential problem because the system drivers were not correctly installed, see as to why not in my canned info below;

Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer ** or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.

The reason why this procedure is so important, the chipset is what enables the MB to be able to communicate with all the hardware + are the first drivers that Windows looks for on boot.
