    Solved Stuck in Startup Repair

Thanks Rustys. I have ordered and received a new SSD and I've created the Windows 10 installation USB. In terms of the next steps, could I install the SSD in the PC as an additional hard drive (assuming there is a spare slot) and then install Windows 10 to it using the USB? Would that work...

    Solved Stuck in Startup Repair

Hi all, A family member has a Dell Studio 1540 desktop which currently has Windows 7 installed; I've taken it off their hands to hopefully upgrade it to Windows 10. Solved Check Laptop after Repair

Many thanks for the advice. I'll probably go with a clean install. The laptop has two drives - an SSD as the system drive and a larger HDD. If the clean install is done on the system drive would I also have to format the HDD?

Hi, Just to let you know I completed the upgrade to Windows 10 today and everything seems to be working fine. I already have an SSD but I might follow up with the option of installing more memory. Thanks for the advice; you can mark this thread as closed.

Solved Upgrade Laptop to Windows 10

Sorry, one last question. Taking into the hardware, will the choice of a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows 10 impact how well the system will perform?

Solved Upgrade Laptop to Windows 10

Thanks georgeks. It is a Dell Studio 1555. I have the OS installed on a partition which is separate from my personal data. Will the upgrade process take that into account? I will back up all my data as a precaution anyway.
