Laptop boot problem - temperature issue?

OK so let's give it up with this silly drivers business. When multiple hardware components on a brand new device independently break down randomly with no pattern, there's clearly no programming issue. Why would all the software in the hardware components spontaneously fail. Furthermore the unit...

Solved PC turning on but the display staying black.

This is not normal. For most models, a healthy pcb would initiate a loud continuous beep if you were to boot without memory. It may sound like an annoying: EEEEEEEEEEEEE! in the tone of a fire alarm and not stop until you turned off the power by pulling out the power cable. Is the CPU fan...

Solved PC turning on but the display staying black.

Remove the RAM and boot. Are there any strange beeps? If not you need a replacement machine. It would confirm the motherboard is irreparably damaged. If so the board is functional but there is a display problem, try a video adapter with a fresh monitor.

Solved PC turning on but the display staying black.

The only reason BIOS would not load was if the battery in the motherboard was removed or drained. You may attempt replacing the battery. Are you sure *all* your cables are connected, including power from your psu to your motherboard. This would be item E in the below...

Solved PC turning on but the display staying black.

First check carefully in the tower to ensure you have not knocked any components during the card installation and removal. Is the RAM fixed in place, is your HD connected and powered. Remove and reconnect these firmly even if you believe they look fine. If that doesn't work, try removing the...

Solved PC turning on but the display staying black.

This sounds like it could be a monitor connectivity issue. I am assuming the PC spins up as normal with the regular POST sounds, just no display this time. To troubleshoot, thoroughly check your monitor is powered and connected. Experiment with power outlets, they may possibly be damaged. Do...

Laptop boot problem - temperature issue?

The unit is 3 months old, has just had a soft factory reset, components were working but are now randomly failing left and right and you still think the problem is outdated drivers? How can the problem that ALL components simultaneously have wrong drivers after previously working fine. LOL...

Laptop boot problem - temperature issue?

Here is another symptom: in the failed state, if I boot with the USB mouse connected, it will operate as normal. If disconnect and reconnected, the USB will no longer operate. And occasionally the system will crash into "Driver power state failure" BSOD if I attempt shutdown or restart (it will...

Laptop boot problem - temperature issue?

Sure I will. That's a good idea. Doesn't explain how this device failed so quickly. It's never been dropped, I'm not jumping up and down on it. Nope nothing to do with drivers. I know this is the thing tech support clings on to with a vengeance but this unit is almost brand new. If it was...

Laptop boot problem - temperature issue?

No, because messing with that could prove cataclysmic to the unit as I have not diagnosed any specific component as failing. For instance, during an update, the root cause may interfere, causing a fatal file system corruption. Then I'd have two problems on my hands. Anyway, you'd only update...

Laptop boot problem - temperature issue?

Upon rebooting, my laptop can enter a state where the NIC, the sound card, and external USB drives are no longer functioning, as if they've been removed. All these devices appear in device manager with no errors. If I reboot up to several times, it will enter its normal state eventually. But it...
