    I will try the safe mode but I checked the ports themselves and there didn't seem to be any damage. I had read somewhere that it's possible for the connection between the usb and the motherboard to have issues but I'm wasn't sure what I was looking for last I checked.

    Yes, I discovered it had something to do with the usb on my headset. Even when deactivated and plugged in it was causing all other sounds to cut out. Thank you for the help.

    Most parts including the motherboard are 2018. I have a x399 gaming pro carbon motherboard and a amd ryzen threadripper 1900x 8core processor.

    Sound is cutting out for a moment on both headphones and speakers, first a pop, then programs will lag, then audio returns. I have tried updating reinstalling audio drivers, I have also done a reset. Worried the issue is hardware and not sure what to try next.
