    Okay so I reminded myself that I do have another instance of windows on one of the drives. I ran this other instance of windows and well...the problem persists. I believe we're looking at some kind of hardware problem isn't it? My next step will probably be checking on a different sound card...

    I've also double checked headset on laptop, it works perfectly fine. Next, as I do not have any extra microphone to hand, I connected headphones jack to microphone jack port to see whether I would be able to use headphones as microphone.     I've performed a clean boot by unchecking "Load startup items" box and disabling all services that do not belong to Microsoft. Problem persists, absolutely no changes.
