    OK so I bought the cheapest card that I could get my hands on and it is now working fine! Is it possible that they could have fitted one to my PC that was not compatible? I have been sent one replacement for it already so it would seem unlikely that I could have had two bad ones in a row.

    I downloaded DNS jumper and selected Google public DNS and then clicked 'Apply DNS'. I hope that was correct. However it still does the same as before, I need to restart before it connects. I don't know a whole lot about computers but couldn't help notice this in the minitoolbox results...
