    Many thanks for this . I am going to go with the DBAN route and remove the XP altogether and start again. I think I may also update the BIOS version first or can I do that after the DBAN operation. Not to worried if I mess this up as I am learning a great deal. Thanks

    I have managed to get it to try and boot from the CD but windows graphic comes up but just hangs there doing nothing. Can I remove XP altogether first with OS uninstall ????

    I have done that to get at the Bios settings but nothing seems to happen to cause the booting from the HDD and boot from the CD or USB drive.

    The machine is very capable spec wise my real problem is that it seems to have a secure boot that I need to disable or override in some way . then I can look at the windows 10 install

    I have tried to get my XP machine to boot from a CD drive or USB so I can remove XP and install windows 10 pro. I have changed the Bios setting to allow this to happen but for some reason XP keeps firing up from the internal Hard drive come what may. It is like a secure boot and I do not know...
